At IronCalc, we believe that your data belongs to you. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit ironcalc.com and use the IronCalc spreadsheet engine.
1. Data Controller
IronCalc is an open-source project. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the data controller is:

2. We Do Not Collect Your Spreadsheet Data
IronCalc is designed to run locally in your browser via WebAssembly (WASM) or on your own hardware.
Local Processing: When you use the IronCalc app, your data, formulas, and files are processed locally on your device.
No Server Uploads: We do not upload your spreadsheet content to our servers. We cannot see, access, or store the data you input into IronCalc.
3. Information We Collect
Because we value your privacy, we collect the absolute minimum amount of data necessary to provide and improve our service.
A. Technical Logs (Server Side)
When you access our website, our hosting provider may automatically collect and store technical information in server log files. This includes:
- IP address (anonymized where possible)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Date and time of access
- The URL of the page requested
Legal Basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Legitimate Interest). This data is used solely for ensuring the security and stability of our website.
B. Communication Data
If you contact us via email (e.g., hello@ironcalc.com) or participate in our GitHub discussions, we will process the information you provide (name, email address, message content) to respond to your inquiry.

4. Cookies and Tracking
We do not use tracking cookies, marketing cookies, or third-party analytics (like Google Analytics) on ironcalc.com.
We may use "session storage" or "local storage" in your browser strictly for functional purposes (e.g., remembering your application state), which does not involve the transfer of personal data to our servers.
5. Third-Party Services
- We host our code and manage community interactions on GitHub. When you interact with our repository, GitHub's privacy policy applies to the data they collect.
- We may also use a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to serve our files faster. These providers only process your IP address for the technical delivery of the website.
6. Data Retention
- Server Logs: Typically deleted or anonymized within 14–30 days.
- Inquiries: We keep emails only as long as necessary to resolve your request.
7. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Access: You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: You can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure: You can ask us to delete your data.
- Portability: You can request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: You can object to our processing of your data based on legitimate interests.
